Organizations are recognizing that employee sentiment—how workers feel about their jobs, leadership, and company culture—has become a critical driver of performance, retention, and innovation. HR leaders are prioritizing agility, skills development, and employee well-being while leveraging AI-driven analytics to make data-informed decisions. Trends such as hybrid work optimization, diversity and inclusion reinforcement, continuous learning, and personalized employee experiences are defining the year, positioning HR as a strategic partner in building resilient, future-ready organizations.

HR isn’t just handling policies and payroll—it’s shaping the employee experience. AI-powered tools are helping managers spot engagement dip before they become resignations. Learning paths are personalized, hybrid work models are fine-tuned, and diversity and inclusion are being woven into everyday decision-making. The big trend? HR is moving from reactive problem-solver to proactive architect of workplace culture—building environments where people can thrive, adapt, and innovate, no matter what the future brings.

We talked recently to Mihai Teodorescu, Managing Director, EltraLogis about what defines the workplace in 2025, the company culture and its impact on the work sentiment along with other aspects of HR priorities and ESG initiatives.

Workplace Sentiment and Culture

How would you describe the current mood or sentiment within your workforce?

The current mood within our workforce is a mix of cautious optimism and a bit of apprehension. There’s a palpable sense of unease, more so than in the past, likely driven by broader economic uncertainties. It’s crucial for us at EltraLogis that our employees feel a deep sense of job security. This is more than just a benefit; it’s a foundational element of our culture that allows them to focus on their work without constant worry. We’ve always valued a healthy mix of professional and personal life, and maintaining this balance is more important now than ever. It helps us build a resilient team that supports one another, not just as colleagues but as people.

What are you doing differently in 2025 to maintain or improve employee engagement and morale?

In 2025, we’ve made some significant adjustments to improve employee engagement. We’re offering more flexibility in our work arrangements, particularly with an increased option for remote work. This isn’t just a perk; it’s a recognition of the evolving nature of work. Additionally, we’ve introduced more flexible work schedules, allowing our employees to better manage their personal lives while meeting their professional commitments. We’re also making a concerted effort to ensure every employee understands our company’s position in the market. By providing greater transparency about our successes and challenges, we empower our team to be active participants in our journey, not just employees.

Are you seeing changes in how employees want to experience work — whether in culture, communication, or leadership style?

Absolutely. We’re seeing a definite shift in employee expectations. The traditional, rigid work model is becoming less appealing. Employees are seeking a more dynamic and adaptable environment. We’re responding by changing our activities to be more engaging and collaborative. One of the most significant shifts is the growing role of AI implementation. We see this as an inevitability, and rather than resisting it, we’re encouraging our employees to embrace it. This push towards technology is also fostering a culture where people are encouraged to be more creative and innovative. We want our team to feel empowered to experiment with new ideas and approaches, not just follow a rigid set of instructions.

HR priorities after midyear

Looking at 2025, after the first half year, what do you see as the most pressing HR priorities for your organization?

Our most pressing HR priorities for the second half of 2025 are a fundamental shift in mindset and preparing our workforce for the integration of AI. This means upskilling our existing team and rethinking our recruitment strategies to attract talent that can work alongside new technologies. We’re also paying close attention to any changes in government regulations. The legislative landscape, especially in Romania, can directly impact our operations and workforce, so staying ahead of these changes is a top priority to ensure we remain compliant and can adapt quickly.

Have you noticed any shifts in employee expectations or behaviors that are reshaping your HR agenda in 2025?

We’ve observed a notable shift in employee behavior, likely influenced by the current economic situation in Romania. We’re seeing a greater tendency for employees to settle in their roles, and job turnover isn’t as frequent as it was last year. This is a positive development that reshapes our HR agenda by allowing us to focus more on internal development and long-term retention strategies rather than constantly recruiting to fill vacancies. It’s a great opportunity for us to invest more in our current team.

What changes in the workforce or business environment do you anticipate in the next 12–18 months?

We don’t anticipate any massive, disruptive changes in the next 12 to 18 months. Our primary focus remains on increasing productivity, which we see as a key priority for the coming years. This will involve streamlining processes, leveraging technology, and continuing to invest in our people to ensure they have the necessary tools and training to work more efficiently. We believe that sustained productivity improvements will be the foundation of our continued success.

What will define a successful HR function at your company by the end of this year?

By the end of this year, a successful HR function at EltraLogis will be defined by increased stability in personnel fluctuation. Our goal is to have a lower turnover rate, which signifies a happier, more secure, and more engaged workforce. When our employees are confident in their roles and their future with us, it creates a virtuous cycle of productivity and success for the entire company.

ESG and HR’s Role

How involved is HR in shaping or supporting your organization’s ESG goals?

HR is deeply involved in shaping and supporting our organization’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. Our primary role is to foster a culture of awareness and acceptance among our colleagues. We’re the champions of these initiatives, ensuring that everyone understands why these rules are important, not just for the company, but for our planet and our community. This buy-in from the entire team is essential for the successful implementation of our ESG initiatives.

What specific ESG-related initiatives your team is leading or contributing to this year?

This year, our team is directly contributing to several key ESG initiatives. On the environmental side, we’re proud to be installing solar panels at our main facilities. We’re also setting up charging systems for electric trucks, preparing our infrastructure for a more sustainable future in logistics. Furthermore, we’re continuously monitoring and improving the efficiency of our vehicle fleet to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. This includes investing in newer, more environmentally friendly models and optimizing our routes.

This year, the business workplace environment is evolving faster than ever, shaped by economic uncertainty, rapid technological advancement, and shifting employee expectations.
