Orange Romania, through Orange Fab and 5G Lab, launches the Network APIs Challenge, an initiative dedicated to the local tech community and IT innovators \u2013 startups, freelancers, students, developers and industry experts \u2013 to explore and test the capabilities offered by a new generation of Network APIs available for the first time in Romania. Those interested are invited to discover the potential of integrating network APIs into their own applications and digital solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The challenge aims to create premises for co-innovation with local partners, in the context of the transition to the new 5G Standalone network version, which will facilitate user access to differentiated services through the concept of network slicing. Orange Romania is counting on the potential of the local tech community to explore new usage opportunities, from financial applications and digital identity to solutions for public safety, logistics, media and entertainment. The best solutions will be announced in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For three months, Challenge participants will have access to 7 APIs that comply with the protocol defined by the international developer CAMARA, a global open-source effort supported by GSMA and TM Forum, which aims to define open standards for Network APIs, interoperable between various mobile network operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The goal of the Challenge organized by Orange Romania is twofold: to facilitate the testing of network capabilities through APIs, but also to generate concrete ideas and prototypes that demonstrate their impact in real applications. These APIs pave the way for new digital services, in which the network becomes an active partner in guaranteeing security, reliability and personalization of the user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The APIs available for testing within the competition are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 SIM Swap \u2013 detection of recent SIM card changes, essential in preventing fraud such as SIM-jacking or interception of authentication SMS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 KYC Match \u2013 verification of the user\u2019s identity by correlating the data entered in the application with the information validated by the network operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Geofencing \u2013 creating virtual zones and receiving automatic notifications when a device enters\/exits the defined perimeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Device Location Verification \u2013 confirming whether a device is in a specific location or not, without using GPS, but through mobile network data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Device Reachability Status \u2013 determining the connectivity of a terminal (online via data, SMS, or offline), relevant for sending critical notifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Quality on Demand (QoD) \u2013 temporary prioritization of network traffic for an application or service<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022 Population Density Data \u2013 access to anonymized data on population density in a specific area<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants will be invited to the 2 Orange research laboratories in Bucharest and Ia\u0219i, 5G Labs, where they will have access to a state-of-the-art 5G Standalone network infrastructure, through which they will be able to test the available APIs using compatible terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those who want to discover the potential of Network APIs and understand how they can integrate these capabilities into their own digital solutions, Orange Romania will organize a webinar on September 25. The online session will include technical demonstrations, detailed explanations about the onboarding process and a series of international showcases that explain the concrete applicability of APIs in areas such as security, media or IoT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
