My HR Lab: Research of suitable candidates and giving feedback to rejected ones, the biggest challenge in HR

During June 2019, My HR Lab company run an online (social media platforms) survey "Challenges of the recruitment process" which enrolled over 100 professionals working in HR and recruitment in Romania.

2019-07-11 22:17:32

The survey managed to identify several challenges that have been mentioned by the respondents:
- Research of suitable candidates (59%);
- Feedback to be offered to rejected candidates (34%);
- Identification and correct promotion of the selling points for the job opening (29%);
- Meetings with hiring managers for calibrating the expectations (28%);
- The actual advertising of the job opening (26%).

According to Beatrice Galațanu, Owner & Trainer My HR Lab, "Interestingly, the research of the suitable candidates is still a challenge. We know that recruiters spend a lot of time with this activity, and this is also due to the fact that online and offline platforms for identifying potential future colleagues are becoming more and more numerous. Now we cannot find candidates just on job platforms and employers' fairs. However, some of the research work can be automated. For example, for LinkedIn research, there are Google Chrome extensions that not only help you find your candidates easier, but they can send your own personalized messages to them, of course, if you load a preset template in the software. In the future, this part that consumes us for so long and there are RPA (robotic process automation) solutions can be automated in the future. In Romania, we are still at the beginning and it remains to see how much we will automate the recruitment processes."

Most of the job openings (78%) available on the local market address specialists, while 35 per cent target students and graduates, while 30 per cent address the senior candidates, with over six years' experience. For instance, in IT, most of the job openings target specialists (83%) and candidates with over six years' experience (46%).

For people active in recruitment, the degree of difficulty in closing a position varies depending on the experience the candidate holds. Thus, they consider that the most easily recruited student is a graduate student, and the most difficult to recruit is a senior, over 7 years of experience. Out of these, 39% of respondents work in IT & C, 14% are employed in companies active in professional services, 13% in production, 12% in retail, 7% in BPO, 3% in construction while 9% work in industries such as engineering, pharmaceuticals, media, oil & gas, logistics or finance. In terms of their level of experience, 38% are specialists (3-7 years of experience), 32% are seniors (over 7 years of experience) and 31% are junior (1-3 years of experience).
