Nine solutions for smart cities delivered at Code4Cluj hackathon of Endava

The Code4Cluj hackathon organized by Endava at Cluj-Napoca between 18-20th of May generated 9 innovative projects meant to solve the problems faced by the community and citizens of Cluj.

The winning project was named CityB / t, an interactive panel with which citizens can find out details of the events and relevant information in their city.

Entrepreneurship technology enthusiasts who have endorsed Endava's invitation to change the city they live in have developed for three days projects that aim to contribute to the vision of Cluj Smart City. The areas that these initiatives focused on were transport and mobility, education and business, the relationship with citizens, energy and the environment, retail, tourism, health and the safety of citizens. The Hackathon was organized in collaboration with the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca and is part of the series of activities of the Days of Cluj 2018. The VIP Lodge of the Polivalenta Hall in Cluj-Napoca was adapted for a marathon of approximately 40 hours of programming and was equipped with innovation areas, relaxation spaces and other facilities to ensure a pleasant experience for the participants.

Cluj-Napoca is a city that benefits from such an ever-expanding ecosystem of a long-term vision of the digitization strategy of the city and a large number of specialists in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Through Code4Cluj Hackathon, we wanted to bring together creative people, passionate about innovation, to develop solutions for a modern and intelligent city. The active involvement of each of us shows that we are concerned about the good of our community, thus contributing to the formation of a better and more harmonious environment, "said Isabela Buhai, Cluj Delivery Unit Manager, Endava.

The winners of this year's edition of Code4Cluj Hackathon were: CityB/t project, awarded with the first prize, and targeting the development of intelligent panels that provide interactive and dedicated information and with which citizens can connect to their own city. The panels will provide information about the community, events and social responsibility projects taking place in Cluj-Napoca, can display advertisements and may represent a point of communication between the inhabitants and the administration. The 5 members of the first place were awarded with a 3D printer. The second prize was awarded to ElectriCity project, consisting in the development and placing surveillance cameras for solving the traffic problems in Cluj-Napoca. The third prize was assigned to CleanAirCluj, a project that aims at collecting data on pollution and informing the citizens on the required actions to improve the quality of air in the city.
