ASE Bucharest gets new CIMA program, a qualification highly appreciated by employers

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), one of the world's largest professional bodies of management accountants, strengthens its presence in Romania by sealing a strategic partnership with the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE)

As a result of this partnership, starting this academic year, students from ASE will have an opportunity to acquire the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting and CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting at the same time with the BA and MA degrees from the university, reveals a release.

Under the agreement, students who will obtain a BA degree from the Faculty of Accounting and Management Information Systems will be exempt from four CIMA exams and will be awarded the Certificate in Business Accounting after passing the CIMA exam "Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Law".

Also, students attending the Accounting and Finance Techniques for Business Management master program at the Faculty of Accounting and Management Information Systems will be exempt from three CIMA exams and will be awarded the Diploma in Management Accounting after passing one case study exam with CIMA.

"Obtaining the accreditation of our university programs from internationally-relevant accounting professional bodies is fundamental for our institution, students and academics. This is very consistent with the internationalization strategy that ASE constantly has pursued over many years now, as well with our intent of offering market-relevant programs to our graduates," said Prof. Pavel Nastase, PhD, Rector of ASE.

Research shows that 87% of employers would pay a premium to have a CIMA member on board and the world's top 100 brands choose CIMA members.

The CIMA Professional Qualification is one of the most important qualifications in the finance and business world and one of the most valued by employers. Research shows that 87% of employers would pay a premium to have a CIMA member on board and the world's top 100 brands choose CIMA members (according to CGMA brand index survey 2014 and Interbrand/Fortune/CIMA, 2013; CIMA members automatically obtain the CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountants) designation, powered by CIMA and AICPA (the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants).

"CIMA provides a broad range of accounting, financial and business skills and knowledge, better career prospects and global recognition. We are delighted with the interest CIMA has generated in Romania and with the large number of students and members in the local community who have chosen the unique CIMA path towards becoming financially qualified business strategists", Krzysztof Kmuk added.

CIMA is currently working in Romania with two tuition providers, the ExP Group and BPP Romania, which organize support courses for passing the CIMA exams.
